Cámen Olson
Born in Rexburg, Idaho and now based in the Bay Area, I am a figurative artist working primarily in charcoal and mixed media. My work explores anatomy, nature, the power of the human body, and the quiet force of love that moves through it. I strive to capture form, shadow, and emotional presence in a subject and to always explore and engage in new ways to create.
I believe art is a fundamental human behavior rather than a learned skill, and is something as natural and intertwined with our lives as love and nature itself. This philosophy drives both my studio practice and my work as an art teacher. Since 2022, I have taught drawing, painting, ceramics, printmaking, and sculpture, with a passion for working with children and teens ages 4-18. Their intuitive creativity and raw perspective are a major inspiration and challenge my own understanding of art and objectivity.
